“Lady in Case”; Thirroul Assault
Mr. T. McInerney, of Wollongong, appeared to plead guilty for Nicholas Kaichor, a Thirroul shopkeeper, when he was summoned on a charge of assault by Eddress Khan, a wool and hide merchant, of Collarenerah, in Bulli Court yesterday morning.
Mr. F. Madigan, of Bulli (for Khan), said Khan was sitting in an automobile in McCauley Road, Thirroul, on April 13, nursing a 2-year-old child on his lap. Kaichor came up to the car and punched him through the window.
Kaichor then dragged him from the automobile and said, “You ——, I’ll kill you.” Khan turned away to look after the child, who had slipped down between the seat and the steering wheel, and Kaichor went away.
Mr. Madigan said Khan knew Kaichor, but could give no reason for the assault or the threatening words.
Khan had remained in Bulli for a week to appear against Kaichor, and was asking for his expenses.
“My client was not prepared to tell much about the incident,” said Mr. McInerney, “but from what I have heard I think there may have been a question of the affections of a lady in the case, and it was with the lady in the car.”
The magistrate fined Kaichor £3 for the assault and ordered him to pay 13s witness’ expenses, and 8s 6d court and professional costs.
